Laverne Isham Helm

Obituary LaVerne Isham Helm January 19, 1921 ~ April 5, 2018 LaVerne Isham Helm, 97, peacefully transitioned from this life April 5 at her home in Austin. She was born January 19, 1921 in Gustine, TX to Paris and Mittie Odell Isham. After graduating from Gustine High School she moved to Comanche, TX. There she met and married Jaye C. Helm. They made their home in Comanche until moving to DeLeon in 1949 and then to Stephenville in l954. Mr. Helm passed away in 1974. She lived in Stephenville until moving to Austin, TX in 2003 to be near her children. LaVerne supported her children in their activities whether, PTA, dance, scouts or sports. While living in Stephenville she was active at Graham Street Church of Christ, taught Sunday School classes, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Senior Citizens office. She worked at The Mark Hallmark Card and Gift Shop from 1969-1981 and later at the Ladies Shop from 1989-2001. She is survived by her children Janis Cartwright and husband Louis of Austin, Jimmy and wife Kathryn of Austin, grandchildren, Jaye Helm and wife Christy, Jacky Helm Roberton and husband Mark; step grandchildren Ali Bailey and husband Alex, Cliff Cartwright & wife Shannon. She also had 7 great grandchildren Max & Molly Helm, Adalyn, Luke and Savannah Roberton, Sam Bailey and Gunnar Cartwright. Visitation will be Sunday April 16 from 4-6 at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jaye C. Helm Scholarship Fund or Foster's Home for Children.
