Laverne Harding

Laverne Harding, 88, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22nd at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Price officiating, with burial to follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Laverne was born on October 17, 1924 in Stephenville to the late Jesse Carson and Mildred Mason Thomason. She married Jack Harding on May 28, 1944 in Stephenville. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1996. Laverne was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ, was a former member of Stephenville Zonta Club, and served with the Meals on Wheels. She was a business woman in Stephenville, and was a lifelong resident of Erath County. Laverne is survived by her daughter, Mitzi and husband Herman Alsup of Lubbock; son, Randy Harding and his wife Gail Rankin of Glen Rose; granddaughters, Cortni and husband Sammy Garcia of Keller and Brooke Swatzye of Baltimore, Maryland; and great grandson, Jaxson Garcia. Besides her parents and husband, Laverne was preceded in death by a son, Rick Harding on January 25, 2011; and by a step-father, Gordon Claitor . The Harding family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Meals on Wheels of Erath County, or to the Foster's Home for Children.
