Kerry Shawn Thomas

Kerry Shawn Thomas was born on February 5, 1964 in Houston, Texas to Jack and Kathy Thomas.  He went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2023 in his hometown of Carrollton, Texas.

He graduated from R. L. Turner High School in Carrollton.  He later earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University.  Kerry worked around the DFW area as a custom cabinet maker and finish carpenter. He also worked many years with his dad, Jack, at Jack's Sew and Vac in Carrollton/Farmers Branch where they repaired and refurbished sewing machines and vacuums. He enjoyed working with his hands and would have been considered an artisan/craftsman.  He loved fishing and all outdoor activities as well as sports.

Kerry was a likeable and friendly guy who never met a stranger.  A talented musician who sang and played the guitar and in his younger years played the drums in a band. He will be missed.

Kerry is survived by his mother, Kathy Thomas of Carrollton, Texas, a daughter Keri Lavander from Sanger, Texas and two grandchildren, Lucy and Damian also of Sanger and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Jack Thomas.

Kerry will be laid to rest in Morgan Mill Cemetery in Morgan Mill, Texas on Monday April 10, 2023, at 2:30 PM.  Visitation will be April 10 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 at Morgan Mill Baptist Church.
