Kenneth 'Ken' Lamar Bailey

December 11, 1932 — August 11, 2024

Kenneth ‘Ken’ Lamar Bailey was born on December 11, 1932, to Robert Tilford Bailey and Grace Reader Bailey in Alba, Texas.  He married his wife Kay on December 26, 1972 in Stephenville, Texas.  He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a teenager.  God called him home on August 11, 2024.

Funeral services for Kenneth will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.  Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the 11:00 AM service.  Graveside Masonic rites will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory.

Kenneth graduated from Corsicana High School in 1951.  He attended Navarro Jr. College and then continued his education at East Texas State University, graduating with a degree in chemistry and math.  He was a quality control engineer with several different companies.  Then he returned to school to obtain a pharmacy degree.  After 40 years as a pharmacist, he retired, but not completely, as he continued to do relief work across the state of Texas.

Kenneth has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, having served as Past Master.  He has received the Golden Trowel Award, also the Cornerstone, Cryptic Triangle, and Excalibur.

He also served as past Post Commander of the American Legion and has been a member of the Stephenville Optimist Club.  His services to the community include scouting, Meals on Wheels, and Grace Place.  He assisted with a weekly Bible study for patients at Sunset Rehab.  Kenneth cherished both the work and fellowship he experienced on special mission trips to Cloudcroft, Ruidoso, and Canada.

Kenneth loved life on the farm.  He enjoyed his tractor, helping his wife with the Charolais cattle, and assisting his son, Keith with baling hay.

Kenneth was a man with many interests.  His 1967 Mustang was his pride and joy.  He cherished the time spent in Tulsa, and at local car shows with friends.  His love of fishing took him on annual trips to Arkansas and to various lakes around the country.  He enjoyed mornings spent meeting friends over coffee at the ‘Old Goats Club’, and other coffee groups around Stephenville.

Survivors include his wife, Kay; and sons Kenny, Kirk (Laurie), Kelvin (Brenda), and Keith (Sandy): 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Robert Merle and Dudley V. Bailey; grandson, Tyler Bailey, and daughter-in-law, Brandy Bailey.

*Philippians 4:13:  “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
