Kenneth C. Evatt, 78, of Stephenville, died Saturday, August 03, 2013 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 6th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Kenneth was born on October 23, 1934 in Stephenville to the late Loyd and Rubye Bramlett Evatt. He grew up in Stephenville and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Ann Keith on June 7, 1952. He was in the construction business. He built many of the dairy barns in Erath County. Outside of his family, Kenneth loved rodeoing. He helped many a young cowboy with the loan of a horse, a good meal, and some good fellowship. He was the proud owner of a roping horse, Smokey, who rode in the National Finals Rodeo. Kenneth was a good man, and generous to a fault. He will be missed. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Howard and wife Nancy Evatt of Stephenville; daughter, Carol and her husband Brian Chaffin of League City; grandson, Chris and wife Jackie Evatt of Abilene; granddaughter, Jessica Evatt of College Station; great-grandson, Carter Evatt, and great-granddaughter, Cadence Evatt of Abilene; sister, Bobbye and husband Foy Parham of Fort Worth; sisters-in-law, Sue Liles of Granbury and Charlcie Pack of Marietta, CA; and several nieces and nephews. The Evatt family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to TSU Foundation, Box T00959, Stephenville, Texas 76402, memo: Kenneth Evatt. The funds will be used for a Tarleton Rodeo Scholarship.
