Kathryn Standefer Benson
November 8, 1949 - June 27, 2024
Kathryn Standefer Benson, born to parents Morris and Virginia Standefer on November 8, 1949, in Stanton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, at her daughter's home in Stephenville, Texas.
Kathy was a trailblazer, becoming the first female mail carrier post-WWII in Colorado City. She also demonstrated her entrepreneurial spirit first by managing her grandfather’s Henderson Ice Company by converting her grandfather's "Henderson Ice House" into a successful liquor store.
Many of us will remember Kathy of having a big heart of generosity. When there was a need she was always there for her family. She also pursued a degree later in life from Tarlton State University.
Kathy is survived by her children, Raymond Lee Rich, Jr. and Christy Rich Carnes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bobby” Daniel Benson. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Jonathan, JT and David Rich (Chelle), Christopher Watkins (Tierra), and Dakota Hall, as well as her great-grandchildren Preslee, Copeland, Anderson, Charlotte, and Oliver.
She is also survived by her niece Virginia Cash, nephew James Britt Standefer, and her brother Terry Standefer (Diane) with their children Jim, Craig, and David Standefer. Great nieces and nephews Brady, Lacy, Brittny, and Ziah will also cherish her memory.
Kathy and her cousin Paula Standefer Dillard and dear friend Gena Ray were practically inseparable throughout her life.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
