Juanita B. (Burdette) Jenkins

Juanita Burdette Jenkins, 83, of Stephenville, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Stephenville. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 21, 2016 with graveside service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Juanita was born on March 7, 1933 in Dublin, Texas, to the late Lee and Ida Whitfield Burdette. She married the love of her life, Norman Jenkins, on March 20, 1953, in Stephenville and together they raised three children. Norman preceded Juanita in death on May 31, 1982. Juanita worked as an LVN for the Stephenville Hospital before working for Dr. James Whitacre DDS for more than 30 years. After retiring she worked as a Girl Friday for the Rock House. Juanita was a lifelong resident of Erath County, a Methodist, and attended Oakdale United Methodist Church for many years. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Stephenville. Survivors include her children, Sandra Porter and husband David of Stephenville, David Jenkins of Dublin, Randall Jenkins and wife Lela of Mesquite; grandchildren, Matthew Porter and wife April, Melanie Porter, Zachary Jenkins, Nathan Jenkins and wife Megan, Bethany Jenkins, Abigail Jenkins, Isaac Jenkins, Chloe Jenkins, and Rachel Jenkins; and one great-grandchild, Sarah Porter. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bruce Burdette, Leland Birdett, and Herman Burdette; and a sister, Joyce Dossett.
