Juanita "Nita" Currie

Nita Currie, 85 of Stephenville, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, in Stephenville. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Boss officiating. Visitation with the Currie family will follow memorial services. Nita's wishes were to be cremated, and her cremains will be interred at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. Nita was born on September 15, 1928 in Loraine, Texas to the late Carl L. and Kathrine Davis Barnfield. She married Douglas Harold Currie in Colorado City in 1948, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1992. Nita was a real estate broker, working at Bob Boone Realty, White Real Estate, and later Currie Realty. She was a member of the Stephenville Board of Realtors, and had lived several years in Stephenville. Nita is survived by her children, Dwayne and wife Jane Currie of Atlanta, Georgia, Leslie Currie of Stephenville, and Renee and her husband John Smith of Georgetown, Tennessee; brother, Curtis and wife Kaye Barnfield of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Currie, Chad Currie, Josh Fuller, Chris Currie, and Lindsey Currie, and 9 great grandchildren. Nita was preceded in death by two sisters, Carlene Moore and Margaret Matthews.
