Joyce Lay

Joyce Lay, 83, of Stephenville died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, November 28, 2011 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Joyce was born on October 7, 1928 in Paducah to the late J. C. and Gladys Langford Kilcrease. She married Willard Lay on January 19, 1946. He preceded her in death July 23, 2002. Joyce moved to Stephenville in 1944 where she worked as a nurse at Stephenville Hospital. She worked several years at Stephenville Bank and Trust and was a sales associate at Bealls. Joyce was a long time member at Graham Street Church of Christ. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Erath County Nurses Association. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Becky Hill, a sister, Lois Derrick, and brothers, Johnny Kilcrease, Herbert Kilcrease and Alec Kilcrease. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Mike Proctor of Amarillo; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Larry Hammett of Stephenville; son, Randy Lay of Euless; son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Debbie Lay of Mansfield; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Gail Kilcrease of Godley; brother, Bobby Kilcrease of Canyon Lake; sister-in-law, Joanna Lay of Stephenville; brother-in-law and wife, Bob and Louan Lay of College Station; and two special friends, Cathy Borcheding of Lorena and Evelyn Rush of Stephenville; She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Memorials may be made to the Erath County Meals on Wheels or The Foster's Home for Children.
