Joyce Lively Chew

Joyce Lively Chew, 83, of Stephenville died, Wednesday, December 07, 2011 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Joyce was born on January 8, 1928 in Hico to the late Bryant and Lillie Maye Doty Lively. She married Bill Chew on December 4, 1948 in Hico, and he preceded her in death October 22, 1997. Joyce was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, and had lived in Stephenville since 1953, moving here from Hico. Joyce and Bill opened Bills Lawnmower Shop in 1966, and she continued to run the shop after Bill died, until 2005. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy and wife Betty Chew of Stephenville, and Billy and wife Elaine Chew of Stephenville; grandchildren Chris Chew, Kimberly Kowis, Amy Stoker, and Michele Stoker; eight great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Charlotte Lively, and brother-in-law, Oliver Pingleton. Joyce was also preceded in death by a grandson, Scotty Chew. Family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
