Jolly was born on October 23, 1927 in Knox County, Texas to the late Jolly and Lela Price Myers. On June 10, 1995 he married Evell Froh in Comanche, and Comanche became his home. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Comanche, and a devoted member of the Burton Bible Class. Aldergate Enrichment Center of Early, Texas, a ministry of the united Methodist Church that provides employment for handicapped people, was very special to him. It earned him the nickname, ‘The Cardboard Man', as he collected cardboard from the businesses in Comanche and transported them to Aldersgate for their recycling job. Jolly was a very generous man. He grew tomatoes, and loved to give them to his friends and neighbors, along with watermelons, cantaloupes, and boxes of peanuts. Jolly loved nature and saw God in a beautiful sunset, a full moon, a beautiful zinnia, or a tiny seed. Jolly served in the Oklahoma National Guard, and was director of sales for Birdsong Peanuts.
