Johnny Duane Edwards, 68, of Santo passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14 at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Church of Christ with Frank Briscoe officiating. Burial will follow at Bosley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Johnny was born on November 29, 1947 in Stephenville to W.A and Gladys McCleskey Edwards. He attended Santo schools, where he graduated as Valedictorian in 1966. He received his bachelor's degree from Tarleton State, where he was on the Deans List, and his Masters from UTA. Johnny was a veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a CPA, being a partner in the Edwards and Stokes CPA firm where he was highly respected. He was also a member of the Santo Church of Christ, and was a past president of the Kiwanis club. In 1973, Johnny married Joyce Meredith in Oklahoma City, and recently celebrated 43 years of marriage. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, camping and gardening, but mostly loved being PaPa to his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and he was deeply cherished by his family, friends and clients. Survivors include his wife, Joy of 43 years, children Cathey Robertson and fiancée Cory Graham of Santo and Duane Edwards of Santo; Grandchildren Keleigh, Chloe, Chrissy, Katey, Kaelyn, DJ, and Jason; brothers Arthur Edwards of Patillo and Ronald Edwards and wife Sandy of Santo; sister Linda Gilbert and husband AC of Santo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. A. and Gladys Edwards, and siblings W. A. Edwards, Jr., Lois Marie Chandler, Nell Handy and Charles Edwards. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fosters Home for Children, Arms of Hope or the Kiwanis.
