John D. Lucas

John D. Lucas, 93, of Stephenville, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in Stephenville. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday January 10, 2011 at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Erath County with Jim Kirby officiating. John was born on December 7, 1917 in Erath County to the late John and Abby Pack Lucas. He married Ruby Wright on November 20, 1943 in Lordsberg, New Mexico, and she preceded him in death on July 30, 1990. John served during WWII in the U.S. Army. He has resided in Erath County all of his life and worked as a painter. John was a member of the West Side Church of Christ. He is survived by his sons, Tony Lucas and wife Joyce of Stephenville, and Johnny Don Lucas and wife Joyce of Stephenville; grandchildren, Tonya Lucas, Christi Dragoo, Cheryl Lucas, and Trophy Lucas; and five great-grandchildren.
