John Wesley Burton

John Wesley Burton was born on August 9, 1948, in Laramie, Wyoming to John Lewis Burton and Gladys Maedell Burton.  He graduated high school in 1968 from Sam Rayburn High School.  After high school he served in the United States Army in the 82nd airborne.  He later attended Tarleton State University where he met and married Susan Fry.  He worked at Comanche Peak for many years until he retired in Stephenville, Texas.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he enjoyed fishing with his son, and watching his grandchildren in any of their endeavors.

John passed away on January 20, 2025.  He is survived by his son, Kevin; mother of his son, Susan; his daughter-in-law, Audrae; his grandchildren, Madison, John, and Hannah; his brother, Richard Burton; his sister, Patricia Powitzky; and nieces and nephews, Eric, Dayna, and Brandi.

John’s wishes were to be cremated, and his family has honored his request.
