STEPHENVILLE - Joan Livingston, 64, a faithful Christian servant of her Lord, peacefully left this world and received her angel wings on Friday, September 4, 2015. SERVICE: a Memorial and celebration of her life will be held at Oakdale Methodist Church, Stephenville, on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 11 a.m. Joanie was born on April 5, 1951, in Monahans, Texas, to Janie Lyle and Manuel Miller, the second of their two daughters. She has lived in Stephenville for the past 59 years. She attended Chamberlin Elementary, Stephenville Junior High, and graduated from SHS in 1969. She attended Tarleton State University and began her lifelong work in photography with her father. She met her life partner, Gary D. Livingston and they were married on July 12, 1972. Upon her father's retirement, she became professional photographer and owner/operator of Miller's Studio. She and Gary welcomed and raised their two sons, Martin and Adam, in the town they loved. Joanie was active in many state and national professional photography organizations. Even more important to her friends in Stephenville, she touched many lives in her community through quiet work in civic organizations such as the PTA and Kiwanis Club, as well as playing tenor saxophone in the Tarleton Ultra Club Big Band. Most significantly was her work in her church, Oakdale Methodist, where she gave freely of her time and talent. Most striking to her friends and family was her selflessness and stewardship; she thought only of others, never herself. She was embarrassed by any recognition for her many accomplishments.
