Jo Ann Patterson

August 14, 1933 — August 10, 2021

Jo Ann Patterson, 87, formerly of Stephenville, TX passed away peacefully at home in Apache, Ok surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 14 2021 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery.

Jo Ann was born August 14, 1933 in Oklahoma City to Maj. Willie Lee and Nellie Crandall Shaffer.  Jo Ann's childhood dream was to marry Prince Charming and be a wife and mother.  On Sunday, July 9, 1950 she married the love of her life, Raymond Lewis Patterson.  The two met in church as teenagers. Jo Ann was a singer on a weekly KBYE radio show called "Your Sunday Singers With Jo Ann and Sammy". Raymond was a piano player with The Sooner State Quartet, and their wedding was broadcast on the radio. She also sang on a Minnie Pearl-style variety show called "Cousin Nellie", which always included a gospel song dedicated to the military fighting the Korean War and their families.  In later years she sometimes performed as a guest singer with the Bosque River Boys.
Jo Ann was content with being a housewife and serving and enjoying her family. She was always kind and our friends were welcome and felt at home with her.  There are no awards or words great enough to express the value of being raised with such love and grace.  It is with anticipation that someday we will see how God rewards her for a job faithfully and well done!

Survivors include her three daughters, Rayma and husband Bill Laughing of Stephenville, TX, Lieu Ann and husband Joe Weaver of Midwest City, OK, and Vivian (Messer) and husband Michael French of Apache, OK; three grandsons, Clinton Weaver and wife Evelyn of Midwest City, OK, Timothy Messer and wife Anaiza of College Station, TX, and Andrew Messer and wife Brittny of Roanoke, TX; and three great-grandchildren: Declan, Kyann, and Gavin Weaver of Midwest City, OK.  Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, and one grandson, Joe Raymond Weaver.
