Jimmy Leon Tate

Jimmy Leon Tate, 68, of Lipan, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 in Lipan. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 14th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with David Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Jimmy was born on December 16, 1944 in Fortune Bend, Texas to the late Homer C. and Sarah Marie Russell Tate. He married Barbara Tate in 2002 in Hood County. She preceded him in death August 2006. Jimmy graduated from Huckabay High School, and received his degree in business from Tarleton State University. He was a teacher and coach, teaching at Peaster, Lipan, Mineral Wells, Bluff Dale, and Dublin. Jimmy serves on the Lipan School Board. He has lived in Lipan since 1986; moving there from Huckabay. Survivors include his daughters, Nikki and husband Steve Callaway from Dublin, Brandi and husband Wesley Nelson from Lipan, and Amber and husband Les Branson from Lipan; grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah, Kynzi, Zach, Brady, Ben, Tate, Taylor, and Telese; sisters, Tommie Tate of Stephenville and Lou Ann Howell of Weatherford; brothers, Bobby Tate of Stephenville and Johnny and wife Kathy Tate of Stephenville; sister-in-law, Mary Tate of White Settlement; nephews, Robert and wife Rani Tate, Bret Tate, and Ryan and wife Kelly Tate; great nieces, Bethany and Riley; step-daughters, Barbara, Crystal, Jody, and Fanci. Jimmy was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Jackie, J. D., Cecil, Carroll, and Lee Evan Tate; sisters, Linda Tate, Francis Ann Tate, Betty Jean Tate, and Shirlene Causey. The Tate family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Dublin Athletic Booster Club, or the Lipan Athletic Booster Club or Lipan Fair Fund through the Lipan First National Bank.
