Jimmy Earl Casstevens

Jimmy Earl Casstevens, 75 of Stephenville, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, in Fort Worth. Jim was surrounded by his family, at his death, after a 5 year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 27th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Jim was born on July 8, 1937 in El Reno, Oklahoma to the late Thomas Key and Minnie Oma Marcom Casstevens. He married Joyce McDonald on June 14, 1958 in Calumet, OK. Jim attended Texas Wesleyan University, and Oklahoma City University. He spent many years with the Cadillac Division of General Motors. He and Joyce moved to Stephenville in 1976 from Richardson, bought Brown Motor Company in Stephenville and operated Casstevens Oldsmobile and Cadillac until 1980. Jim spent the last several years of his life as a building contractor. He was a member of the Green's Creek Baptist Church, and a former member of the Stephenville Rotary Club. Jim's passion in life was hunting and fishing. Jim is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Joyce; sons, Jimmy and wife Brenda Casstevens of Red Oak, and Kelly and wife Jennifer Casstevens of Hico; daughter, Lynda Croft; grandchildren, Alicia Michelle Self, Cole Casstevens, Kate Casstevens, T. J. Kranz and Shannon Kranz; great grandchildren, Avari Collins, and Strayleigh Self. Jim was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Key Casstevens, Jr., Billy Hugh Casstevens, and Bobby Joe Casstevens. Family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
