J.C. Riggs

J.C. Riggs December 4, 1929-August 21, 2015 J.C. Riggs, 85, of Stephenville, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home in Stephenville surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Pony Creek Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. J.C. was born on December 4, 1929 in Erath County to the late J.E. and Verna Meador Riggs. He married the love of his life Jean Wakefield on October 1, 1949 in Stephenville and together they raised three children. J.C. has resided in Stephenville all of his life and owned and operated Riggs Machine & Welding since 1953. He was the President of Pony Creek Cemetery Association for many years and served three terms as a trustee on the Stephenville School Board. J.C. was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jean Riggs; sons, Michael J. Riggs and wife Sharon of Glen Rose, and David C. Riggs and wife Katherine Kent Riggs of Coppell; daughter, Judy Kay Burris of Stephenville; grandchildren, Letty Riggs of Allen, Misty Russ of Panama City, FL., Zachary Riggs of Austin, Alexander Riggs, and James Riggs of Coppell; brother, Billy Glen Riggs of Stephenville; and three great-grandchildren, Tess, Ryan, and Sean. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Doris Jean Noonkester.
