He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Scheleen, Renea, Craig, Vanessa, Valerie, Ginny, Roy, and James, and 14 great grandchildren. James was loved and respected by all that knew him, and will be deeply missed by of his family and friends. James married Rose Amelia Marie Anz on April 16, 1938 in Mosheim, Texas. Rose passed away on December 13, 2002. James was a bull rider when entry fees were $1. He and his brother rode freight trains to rodeos all across Texas. He served in the United States Army in World War II in Okinawa. Married for 64 years, they enjoyed a good life together building houses in Texas and Colorado and going to the NFR in Oklahoma City and Las Vegas. They also enjoyed many fun vacations and family gatherings over the years. James and Rose were life time faithful servants of the Lord, and lived out a good example for their children and grandchildren to follow. Both were members of Valley Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed their Sunday School class fellowships. In his later years, James enjoyed watching bull riding on TV, listening to Big Joe's Polka show, and visiting with friends and family. James treasured the friendships of his Good Tree neighbors and care givers. As an expression of sympathy to honor James' memory, please consider a donation to the Texas Baptist Men Builders at 531 Catron, Dallas, Texas 75227 or 214-828-5351, or take someone you love out to eat for a good meal. Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am, there you may be also. John 14: 1-3.
