J D "Sport" Thompson

J D ‘Sport' Thompson, 86, of Morgan Mill passed away peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Morgan Mill Baptist Church with Richard Nachtigall officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home. Sport was born on October 12, 1926 in Thurber, Texas. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and playing dominoes during family events. Both family and friends have fond memories of spending time with him at the service stations and garages that he owned and operated for many years, and fishing at the family farm. Sport also served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. Sport is survived by his loving wife, Bertie Faye Thompson; sons, Billy Thompson and Virgil Thompson; daughter-in-law, Janice Thompson; granddaughter, Kellie Romack and husband Chris Romack; grandson, Russel Thompson and beautiful great granddaughters, Caitlin Thompson, Bailey Romack, Morgan Thompson, and Peyton Romack; sister, Annie Mae Griffin; brother, Herman Ray Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sport was one of life's true gentlemen and will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. Sport was preceded in death by his mother, Dolly Marsh Thompson; father, Jessie Jackson Thompson; sisters, Viola Geeo, Pearl Thompson, and Betty Lively; and brothers, Ralph Thompson and Bill Thompson
