Hershel Davis

Hershel Davis, 86, of Stephenville, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, at Stephenville Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home Hershel was born July 15, 1921 in Morgan Mill to the late John and Ona Davis. He married Rosellen Eberhart, October 5, 1943, in Gatesville. She preceded him in death March 5, 2004. Hershel was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ, and was a police officer for the City of Stephenville for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was a WWII veteran serving the U. S. Air Force. He loved music, having taught piano, voice, and singing schools, and served many years as a church song leader. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Pat and Claude Frazier of McKinney, Maureen and Greg Studer of Denton, Carolyn and Dan Wapp of Waco; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; and several cousins.
