Herbert Rampley, 88, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Dean Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Herbert was born on February 27, 1923 in Whiteface, Texas out in the west of the state, to Willard Harvey and Mirl Cox Rampley. He married June Hanson on December 24, 1947 in Stephenville. Herbert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a life long resident of Erath County. Herbert worked over 25 years for the State of Texas in the Weight & Measure Dept. His favorite sport was Elk hunting in Colorado and Quail hunting with his dogs. He was preceded in death by his wife, June, and a brother, Custer Rampley of Refugio. Herbert is survived by his brother, John Rampley and sister-in-law, Ernestine of Proctor; four nieces, Cindy Herring and husband Ron, Cathy Rampley, Cheryl Hume and husband David, and Linda Butler and husband Tommy; and one nephew, Harvey Rampley and wife Della; he is also survived by numerous other relatives and many friends.
