Harold (Chuck) Gildner, 87, of Hico, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Hamilton. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Harry Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Johnsville Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Harold was born on June 14, 1923 in Lehigh County, PA to the late Harry and Sadie Jones Gildner. He married Evelyn Cox on January 1, 1947 in Stephenville and is a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Harold has resided in Hico since 1993 after previously living in Stephenville. He was a truck driver, service station owner and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Gildner of Hico; children, Nancy Freeman of Hubbard, Harold Gildner, Jr. of Allentown, PA, and Robert Lee Gildner of Hico; brothers, Melvin Gildner, and Albert Gildner both of PA; sisters, Phyllis Lauchnor, and Betty Galio of PA; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; or to the American Diabetes Association.
