Gifford Lee Johnson

Gifford Lee Johnson, 74, of Lingleville, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Fort Worth. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Mieth, Rev. Dale Cartwright, and Rev. Steve Hogard officiating. Interment will follow at the Lingleville East End Cemetery in Lingleville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Gifford was born on January 1, 1935 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Calvin Ed and Ruby Johnson, Sr. He married Linda Ward on November 5, 1966 in Lingleville. He has resided in Erath County for the past 44 years after previously living in Fort Worth. He served in the U.S. Army and was a rancher. Gifford was a member of the Good Sam Travel Club-Santa Fe Sams Chapter and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Stephenville. Gifford is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson; son, Cody Johnson and wife Luann of Dublin; grandchildren, Bayli, Tori, and Clay; sister, Charlotte Ann Staude Rountree and husband Bill of Lingleville; brother, Calvin Ed ‘Eddie' Johnson, Jr. of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews, and several cousins Besides his parents, Gifford was also preceded in death by a son, Corey; and an infant daughter, Megan.
