Georgia S Braithwaite, 72, of Plano passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in her home which she shared with her loving daughter Kimberly, in Plano,Texas. Memorial service celebrating Georgia's life will be held Saturday,March 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Cook officiating. Georgia was born on June 19, 1940 to the late Harry Schermer and Monta Rae Crowder in El Paso, Texas. She was a graduate of Stephenville High School and Tarleton State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Georgia married Kelly Braithwaite in 1962 in Stephenville, Texas. She worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor in the Brownwood State Prison for several years and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her guidance and friendship, which she freely gave to anyone who crossed her path, will be remembered and treasured by all who walked with her. She never withheld her compassion, love and attention to anyone. Georgia is survived by daughter, Kimberly Gayle Braithwaite of Plano, TX; son, USMC SSgt Justin Kyle Braithwaite and wife Amanda of Oceanside, CA; sister, Barbara and husband Jerry Cook of Whitney, TX; ex-husband Kelly Braithwaite of Monterey, CA; beloved cat Kit Braithwaite of Plano, TX; and many dear friends who trudged the same road. Memorial in lieu of flowers may be made to Vitas Hospice of Dallas, TX.
