Garvin D. Wood

November 19, 1916 — August 29, 2010

Garvin D. Wood, born November 19, 1916, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the age of 93. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Garvin married Olive Wyly on May 18, 1940. They had four children: Nova, Lynell, Kelvin, and Sherwyn. Garvin resided in Erath County his entire life, and lived in Selden since the age of 13. He was a dairy farmer, a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, and an avid promoter of Selden community activities He was preceded in death by his parents, H. D. and Grace Irene (Bailey) Wood; his wife of almost sixty years, Olive; a daughter, Lynell Haedge; three sisters, Avo Bishop, Inez Counts, and Thelma Jones; a brother, W. A. Wood; and a grandson-in-law, Scott Price. He married Dorothy Day (Schrimsher) Carey Suitt on October 5, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Nova Schouten and husband Pete; sons, Kelvin Wood and Sherwyn Wood and wife Angela all of Selden; brother, Carroll Wood and wife Deanna of Cleburne; grandchildren: Kirk Johnson, Kimberly Price, Shawn Johnson, Heather Jones and husband Nickey, Holly Haedge, Heath Haedge and wife Dana, Kourtnie Perow and husband Mark, Tiffany Wolf and husband Matt, Nevada Wood, Dakota Wood, Wesley Wood, and Whitney Oliver and husband Remi; and great-grandchildren: Justin Johnson, Chet Johnson, Colton Price, Kaylon Johnson, Kline Jones, London Jones, Hayden Haedge, Brice Haedge, Brenan Haedge, Marcos Perow, Shiloh Perow, Reimer Wolf and Ellison Wolf.
