Frances J Wise

Frances Wise, 85, of Stephenville, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 17th at the Cowboy Church of Erath County with Brother Werth Mayes officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan, Texas. The visitation will be Monday 6:00 - 8:00 at Stephenville Funeral Home. Frances was born on December 10, 1928 in Erath County to the late Delmer and Bessie Tuggle Compton. She married Delbert Wise, Sr. on February 17, 1951 in Erath County. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2012. Frances was a lifelong resident of Erath County and attended the Cowboy Church of Erath County. She retired from her position as Erath County Tax-Assessor/Collector after many years of service and then became a full time housewife and caregiver of many. Frances is survived by her son, Delbert Wise, Jr. and wife Rhonda; daughter, Lana Smith; granddaughters, Shanna Wise-Walden and husband Kevin, Ashley Chipman and husband Walter Johnson; nieces, Gail Purselly, Sara McCombs and husband Bruce; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; also part of her family, Jesse and Brenda Richeson and Lupe Castaneda; plus many special friends whose lives she touched. Besides her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Compton; sister, Mary Parker; and son-in-law, Mike Smith.
