Floyd Dean Harmon

Floyd Dean Harmon, 80, of Stephenville, passed away Wednesday June 24, 2009 in Meridian. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 26, 2009 at West End Cemetery in Stephenville with Allan Brunson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Floyd was born on August 19, 1928 in Morgan Mill, Texas to the late Marlin and Florence Cantrell Harmon. He married Laverne Gore on June 6, 1954 in Ranger, Texas. Floyd worked for Lockheed until his retirement in 1993 after 48 years of service. He was a fireman, serving in White Settlement for 20 years and Eagle Mountain for 11 years. He was also the first Fire Chief of the Morgan Mill Volunteer Fire Department. Floyd was a 60 year member of the Morgan Mill Harmony Masonic Lodge. He was also an Endowed member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Selden Baptist Church. Floyd is survived by his wife Laverne Harmon of Stephenville, daughters, Judy Bradley and husband Ronnie of Cottondale, Jo Wilson and husband Billy of Stephenville; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Floyd David Harmon in 2004. Memorials may be made to the Meridian Manor Activity Fund at 1015 N. Main Meridian, Texas 76665.
