Ellen Joan Lane

Ellen Joan Lane September 29, 1931 ~ August 17, 2016 Ellen Joan Lane, 84, of Stephenville, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Stephenville Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will host a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Ellen was born on September 29, 1931 in Stephenville to the late J.R. and Frances Watson Holloway. She married H.B. Lane on November 1, 1947 and they enjoyed almost 69 years together until his passing in March of 2011. Ellen earned both her Bachelors and her Masters Degrees from Tarleton State University. She taught government and Economics at Stephenville High School until her retirement. She lived in Stephenville most of her life and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include her grandchildren, Steve Lane and wife Melanie of Stephenville, Belinda Starnes and husband Keith of Stephenville; great-grandchildren, Tyler Lane, Jaci Lane, Justin Egdorf and wife Rebecca, Brieanne and husband Matt Escalante, Shaelyn Billings and husband Ross, great-great grandchildren, Haegan Troutman, Aubrie Escalante, Rowan Egdorf, and Kade Billings; sisters, Anna Ketchum, and Frances Broun; brother, Jake Holloway; and children, David Gary Lane, and Houston Larry Lane, She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, H.B.; two sisters; one brother; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Lane.
