Elizabeth Porter Kilgore

October 22, 1927 — August 3, 2015

Elizabeth Kilgore, 87, of Stephenville, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 in Fort Worth. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. Elizabeth was born in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Jessie and Bessie Menasco Porter. She married the love of her life, Paul Henry Kilgore, on Nov. 7, 1948 in Fort Worth, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1999. Elizabeth grew up in Ft. Worth and also resided in Kerrville before moving to Stephenville in 1955. She was the Director of Purchasing for Tarleton State University for many years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ in Stephenville and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Kilgore Chambers and husband Gene of Lingleville, and Sherry Kilgore Boardman of Stephenville; grandchildren, Chet Chambers and wife Korie of Stephenville, Quenton Chambers and wife Katie of Stephenville, Michael Sheppard, Jr. and wife Lyndie of Beaumont; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Kilgore; daughter, Brenda Kilgore Knouse; granddaughter, Christi Boardman; grandson, Jon Knouse; and five siblings.
