Elaine Hunter Hammett

Elaine Hunter Hammett, 79, of Stephenville died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Ben McCleery officiating. Burial will follow at East Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Elaine was born on July 30, 1933 in Erath County to the late Jodie Otho and Minnie Fair Huffman. She married George Otis Hunter on January 30, 1954 in San Saba. He preceded her in death May 12, 1980. On December 16, 1983, Elaine married William Roy ‘Bill' Hammett in Stephenville. Bill also preceded her in death on October 26, 2010. Elaine was a self employed entrepreneur. In her early years she worked several years with the local telephone company. She owned and operated convenience stores, a furniture store and a trailer park. She was a member of the Full Gospel Faith, and lived most of her life in Lingleville and Stephenville. Elaine is survived by sons, Mark and wife Joyce Hunter, Lynndal and wife Elizabeth Hunter, Clifton Frank Hunter, and Larry and wife Pat Hammett all of Stephenville; daughters, Lou and Richard Lancaster of Coppell, and Rosa and husband Alex Magana of Spring; sister, Carol and husband John Henderson of Stephenville; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elaine was also preceded in death by grandson, Joshua Kyle Hunter, granddaughter, Becky Hill, and by sisters, Kathlyn Rhodes, Bonnie Wells, and Naomi Ferguson; and brothers, Rex Huffman and Joe Huffman.
