Effie Lee Baker was born July 21, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to Artie N. and Allie Grindele Jagjears. Effie was a lifelong Texas resident. Her passing was September 10, 2020, in the Stephenville Nursing home, where she had been a resident for over 20 years.

Effie grew up in Dallas. She also lived in Bonham. Before moving to Stephenville Nursing Home, she lived at Rockhouse in Eastland, TX, and Rockhouse in Stephenville, TX. When she was medically able, she loved attending the Valley Grove Baptist Church. She cherished the longtime friendships she made at her church and loved the singing and visits from the Godly servants from that congregation. A very special lady, Donna Willis, was her Sunday School teacher who has attended to Effie's spiritual and other needs for years. Donna's friendship was especially helpful since all of Effie's family was a long distance away. Her family wants to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the kindness shown to her by others of the church congregation for many years.

Effie is survived by one daughter, Martha Brazier, Stephenville, and one sister, Martha Taylor, Duncan, OK. Other family includes many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ben Baker, two brothers Clyde Jagjears, Bonham, TX, and Earl Martin, Dallas, TX, one sister Janetta Shelton, Bonham, TX, and a nephew
Dwayne Shelton, Bonham, TX.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Stephenville Nursing Home staff and the Solaris Hospice for their genuine concern and care provided to Effie.
