Ed King, 84, of Stephenville, departed his earthly home for his heavenly home on Monday, February 10, 2025 in Abilene.
Funeral services for Ed will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 14th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation with the King family will begin at 1:00 PM, one hour prior to services.
Born March 13, 1940 in Waldron, Arkansas, he was the son of Edd C. King and Mary Henderson King. Ed being a preacher’s son moved around as a child. He lived in Arkansas, Kansas, and Texas, eventually living most of his adult life in Stephenville.
Ed graduated from Winfield High School in Winfield, Kansas in 1958. He then went to serve inthe United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He was a truck driver and an apartment manager by trade. He married Barbara (Hatcher) Sargent on March 19, 1982, in Stephenville. He and Barbara would have celebrated 43 years of marriage in March 19th . They attended Cowboy Church of Erath County.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bobby King; sisters, Carolyn King and Kathie Meador. He is also preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Kevin King.
Surviving him is wife, Barbara; daughter, Lucretia Carter; sons, Eddie and wife Shelly, Brian and wife Kim, Michael and wife Stacy; James and wife Toni, Randy and wife Billie, and Michael and wife Brigette; and also several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ed loved to do crosswords, puzzles, and spend time with his family, and he always had a dog.
