E. Preston Hook

E. Preston Hook, 82, of Stephenville, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Edward Heinze and Art Gartside officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Preston was born on November 1, 1930 in Erath County to the late William Lonzo and Maggie Huxford Hook. He married Wanda Pendleton on November 13, 1948 here in Erath County. Preston served in the U. S. Army, and was a 73 year member of the Rocky Point Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was very active in the Gideons, and was a life long resident of Erath County. Preston was a farmer and a local Stephenville businessman. He owned and operated B & C Tire Store in Stephenville 21 years. Preston is survived by his wife Wanda; daughter, Margie and husband Dusty Rhodes of Stephenville; grandchildren Chelsea Shipman and R. J. Rhodes,III; great grandchildren, Reese and Raegan Shipman and Riley Rhodes; brother, Houston and wife Louise Hook of Millsap; and several nieces and nephews. Preston was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Bramlett and Mavis Waddle; and by a brother, Robert W. Hook.
