Dorothy Crews

Dorothy Claire Parr Crews, 98, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at a local nursing home. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Stephenville with Rev. Glenn Shock officiating. Dorothy was born Oct. 5, 1913 in Erath County to the late B.T. and Virginia Roberts Parr. She married Sherman T. Crews on Nov. 27, 1941 in Brownwood. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1989. She lived in Fort Worth until 1974 when Sherman retired from the U.S. Postal Service and Dorothy retired from the Texas Employment Commission. They were members of Travis Ave. Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Dorothy was the youngest and last of a large family. She was much loved and she in turn cared for her siblings and their children. Dorothy and Sherman had no children but she loved the children in her family. After retirement Dorothy and Sherman returned to Stephenville. She was a very active member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Dorothy lived a life filled with love, adventure, many friends, and was a devoted Christian. Survivors include Jean Billingsley and husband Leslie, of Dublin, Jo Anne Reynolds of Granbury; Patsy Collins and husband Bob of Stephenville, and many nieces and nephews.
