Doris Billie Maas Easley, 77, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in Stephenville Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2009, at Rowena Protestant Cemetery, in Rowena, TX. Under directions of Stephenville Funeral Home. Doris was born on June 1, 1931, in Rowena, to the late William and Mary Kohutek Maas. Doris graduated in 1951 from the Shannon School of Nursing in San Angelo with an RN Degree. She entered the US Navy Nurse Corp. in 1952 as an officer, Lieutenant Junior Grade, and served for two years in Portsmouth, Virginia. Doris married Lloyd Eugene Easley, May 20, 1956 in Lovington, New Mexico. During her life Doris was employed by numerous medical and other health facilities as an RN with her last 18 years of employment being Head Nurse of the Student Health Center at Tarleton State University. She retired from the position in 1993. Doris enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, cooking, caring for her family; visiting with other family members and watching Texas Ranger Baseball. As a young girl she enjoyed accompanying her father Bill Maas on fishing, hunting, and camping trips in and around the Texas Hill Country. This same activity she enjoyed with her husband, and sons throughout her life. She was dedicated to continuously creating a better life for her husband, her two sons, their wives, and other family members. She always wanted to be part of the action where her husband, sons, and their wives were involved. Doris was an adventurous, head strong, and determined individual, and will be missed by all with whom she was ever associated. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd (Gene) Easley; son, Thunder and wife Beckie Easley of Floresville, TX, and son, Cloud and wife DeDe Easley of Fairview, Texas; sister, Marie and husband Clements Schwertner of Ballinger, sister, Polly and husband Jim Davenport of Midland, sister, Verbalee and husband Harold Mikeska of San Angelo; brother, Harvey Maas and wife Arlene of Odessa; grandson, Trenton Easley; and granddaughter, Claire Easley both of Fairview; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Family wish expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to West Texas Rehab Center.
