Donald G. Peacock

April 19, 1939 — November 13, 2021

Don Peacock, 82, of Stephenville, went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, November 13, 2021.

Funeral services for Don will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 17th at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ken May officiating.  Burial will follow at New Dublin Cemetery.  Visitation with the Peacock family will be on Tuesday evening 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Don was born on April 19, 1939, in Gorman to the late Alfred ‘Chick’ and Adele Burks Peacock.  He married Mary Shafer on May 20, 1961, in Dublin. Don attended Tarleton State University, and served in the National Guard.  He was an active member of First Baptist Church for 78 years, and spent many of those years teaching Sunday School when his children were young.  Don has spent over 45 years as a member of the Stephenville Optimist Club.  He greatly contributed to the growth of Stephenville, and other communities through his successful career as a developer, builder, and restaurateur, including building and operating many well loved local businesses such as the Pit Grill (Peacocks) Restaurant, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and The Donut Shop.  He was a lifelong resident of Stephenville.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Diana and husband Duane Heaton of Longview; and son, Darren and wife Amy Peacock of Granbury; grandchildren, Drew Heaton of Longview, Rebecca Heaton of College Station, Devyn Peacock of Stephenville; and Kristen and husband Zach Wolfe of Abilene; brothers, Ron and wife Gail Peacock of Stephenville, and Steve and Linda Peacock of Stephenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Don was also survived by a ‘few’ hundred friends.

The Peacock family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to First Baptist Church Stephenville, Grace Place fund or Life Vision Fund.
