Dollie Collins Parham

Dollie Collins Parham, 64, of Stephenville, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Stephenville. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Travis Priddy officiating. Interment will follow at the East Memorial Cemetery in Stephenville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Dollie was born on February 22, 1946 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to the late Rev. Earl Raymond and Dixie Ward Collins. She married Leroy "Candyman" Griffin on December 14, 2008 in Stephenville. Dollie has resided in Stephenville from age 15 and spent a brief period of her life in Colorado. She graduated from Stephenville High School in 1965 where she was nominated as the SHS Homecoming Queen, served as a Drum major, and was school sweetheart. Dollie was also the Lions Club Queen and Miss Texas Runner-up. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State College and a Master's Degree in Education from University of North Texas. She spent 15 years in the public school systems of Somerville and Erath County as well as Corpus Christi as an elementary school counselor and teacher. She was also very involved and had a passion for southern gospel music. Dollie was also a patient rep at Stephenville Surgical Clinic and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Baptist. Dollie is survived by her husband, Leroy ‘Candyman' Griffin of Stephenville; daughter, Manda L. Parham and fiancé, Elijah Gordon of Crowley and her expected grandchild "peanut'; son, Wes Parham and wife Amanda of Denver, CO; sister, Pat Hale of Stephenville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Collins of Little Rock, AR; nephews and nieces, Tim Hale and family of Sallisaw, OK., Tina R. Hale-Kepulis and husband Roland and family of Hudson, WI., Tamara Lewis and husband Jeff and family of Little Rock, AR., Chuck Collins and wife Tamra and family of McKinney; her husband's children, sons, Jeff Owens and wife Marsha and family of Stephenville, Ronald Kubicek and wife Debbie and family of Cleburne, Robbie Owens and wife Cynthia and family of Houma, LA; daughter, Barbara Garcia and husband Anthony of Alabama; She was preceded in death by a brother, Dick R. Collins.
