Delana Joy Goodman Haggard

Delana Joy (Goodman) Haggard, born August 26, 1961, in Stephenville, Texas to Robert Ray and Delores Phillips Goodman, passed away peacefully at her home in Stephenville on February 4, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Gary Pendleton and her family takes comfort in knowing she now rests in the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior.

Delana was a 1979 graduate of Stephenville High School. She was the youngest of four sisters. Family was very special to her and shortly after graduation she married Steve McPherson, and together, they had their first son, Shae McPherson in 1982. In that same year she started a career working in the local armory manufacturing firearms company, Leatherwood Brothers. She took pride in her work and really enjoyed working for Mr. Leatherwood. In 1988, Delana married Gary Pendleton and they worked in ministry together. Shortly afterwards, Delana gave birth to her second son, Dusty Pendleton. Delana worked as a para-educator at S.I.S.D. for many years. Her students were very special to her and making a positive impact in their lives was very important to her. She devoted time to help those who needed not only taught but loved and understood. After retiring from S.I.S.D., Delana continued helping numerous students with tutoring for many years. I think we can all agree that from her contagious laugh to her sweet southern voice, Delana sparked happiness to everyone she met.

Her pride and joy were most definitely her two sons, Shae and Dusty, as well as her grandchildren. She loved her family very much and always supported them in their lives. Delana enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her best friend, the love of her life on this earth, Dewey.

She is preceded in death by her love, Gary Pendleton, her first husband, Steve McPherson, and her father, Robert Ray Goodman.

Delana is survived by her sons, Shae McPherson (Rachael) of Waco, Texas, and Dusty Pendleton of Stephenville, Texas. Her mother, Delores Sue (Phillips) Goodman of Stephenville, Texas. Her oldest sister, Pat Parnell (Charles) of Tuscola, Texas; second oldest sister, Sonja Stockton (David) of Stephenville, Texas; third oldest sister, Sheila McMahan of Stephenville, Texas. Her grandchildren, Memphis Raines, Peyton Raines, Skylar Raines all of Waco, Texas; Janei Pendleton and Liliana Pendleton both of Stephenville, Texas. Her fiancé, Dewey Haggard of De Leon, Texas Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of lifelong friends and loved ones.
