Born in Hico, Texas, October 15, 1951, twin to his brother Dale. Preceded in death by his father Bill Hancock. Survived by his mother Verna Pearl Hancock, twin brother Dale Hancock, sister, Donna Laven, and several nieces and nephews and friends. David attended school in Stephenville and went to Tarleton State University for a couple of years. He finished his degree in economics and Latin American studies at the University of Texas. While attending UT he was able to live in Peru in a study-work program. David enjoyed traveling and helping others. This led him to work for the Peace Corps for 3 years in Guatemala. His teaching career included several high schools and universities. Health problems prevented him from continuing his teaching career. David was a multifaceted person. He enjoyed studying, teaching and reading. He spent summers studying language and art in Mexico. He was a world-class Trivial Pursuit player, and his team was usually destined to win. He was a musician and a prolific painter in earlier years. The family and friends will gather at West End Cemetery in Stephenville for a memorial service for David at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31st. Dr. Robert Walker will preside.
