Darrell F. Hanson, 91, of Stephenville passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Stephenville. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Flournoy officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Darrell was born September 17, 1921, near Wilson Oklahoma to the late John and Mary Hanson. The family moved to Brownfield, TX, where they farmed for a number of years. In the 30's they moved to Erath County, where Darrell graduated from Dublin High School. He lived in the County for the remainder of his life, except for during his service in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theater and Japan. After the war, Darrell cared for his parents and farmed between Stephenville and Lingleville, but later accepted employment at Farmers First National Bank in Stephenville where he served as a loan officer for approximately 30 years. After leaving the bank, Darrell returned to school and obtained a license to sell real estate, which he did until his retirement. Darrell and his beloved wife Ruth were married on August 30, 1958 in Lingleville, TX, after which they moved to their home on the hill near Stephenville where they lived for the remainder of their lives, raising four boys. Ruth preceded him in death on March 21, 2009. Darrell was a devoted husband and father, and loved raising gardens and tending livestock. He had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a kind and gentle man, and a good and faithful friend. He lived his life with integrity and honesty in all things, and loved his family, friends, and his Lord. Darrell was a member of the Church of Christ and had a deep and abiding love for the Truth. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings- three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sons, Gary Blasingame of Tomball, Murle Blasingame of Tolar, Darrell Layne Hanson of Bellevue, Nebraska, Paul Hanson of Fort Worth; five grandchildren.
