Daphene (Roberson) Tate

April 24, 1925 — May 10, 2022

Daphene Roberson Tate, 97, of Stephenville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in San Angelo, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 21st at Erath Gardens of Memory.  Visitation with the Tate family will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 20th at Stephenville Funeral Home

Daphene was born on April 24, 1925 in Hico, Texas, one of thirteen children born to the late Charles and Vivian Powers Roberson.  She married John David Tate, Sr. on March 30, 1947, in Comanche.  John preceded her in death on June 28, 2000.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and also attended services at Acton Baptist Church.  Daphene loved spending time with her family, and playing games with her grandchildren.  She loved to travel.  Daphene was a lifelong resident of Stephenville.  She was a business assistant and apartment manager.

Daphene is survived by her son, David and wife Sandra Tate of Granbury; daughter, Pam and her husband Bart Johnson of San Angelo; grandchildren, Brian and his wife Amy Tate of Centerville, Ohio, Brice and his wife Brandis Tate of Weatherford, Brant and his wife Lynsey Tate of Tolar, and Stephanie Johnson of San Angelo; great grandchildren, Ethan, Kiera, Levi, Brianna, Michelle, Dakota, and Amelia; brothers, Charles Arthur Roberson of Stephenville, Roger Dean Roberson of Fort Worth, Clayton Smith and his wife Doris Roberson of Stephenville; sister Donna and husband Ronald Helms of Burnet,  Nell Montgomery Foster of Stephenville, and Ann Bostick of Stephenville; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family.

Besides her parents, and her husband, John; Daphene was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
