Dalton Harold Dowell

Dalton Harold Dowell, 82, of Huckabay passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Stephenville. Service will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Huckabay Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Dalton was born on November 17, 1930 to the late Bassil Matthew and Ora Greer Dowell in Somervell County, Texas. He married Wanda Young on March 12, 1955 in Erath County. Dalton was a veteran and served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired after 25 years of working for Erath County as an equipment operator and was a farmer and rancher. Dalton was a member of Huckabay Baptist Church. Dalton is survived by his wife Wanda of Huckabay; 3 sons, Michael Dowell, David Dowell and wife Tammie of Huckabay, Gary Dowell and wife Carol of Stephenville; daughter, Marcia Wood and husband Kevin of Alvord; 10 Grandchildren, Josh Dowell and wife Courtney, Chanda Reed and husband Bradley, Shantell Johnson and husband Caleb, Jeremy Harris and wife Lacie, Danielle Mees and husband Stephen, Kaitlyn Dowell, Dalton Dowell, Zack Wood, Caleb Wood; 9 great-grandchildren, Shannon Dowell, Evan Dowell, Michael J. Dowell, Shaelyn Dowell, Brenyn Reed, Maceyn Reed, Kashlyn Johnson, William Harris; 3 brothers, Donald Dowell, Carlos Dowell, Jarrell Dowell; 2 sisters, Glenda Gillaspie and Darlene Murray. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Dowell; brothers, Foy Dowell, Hoyt Dowell, Joe Dowell; sisters, Dorothy Jones and Eddie B. Robbins.
