Mrs. Clyde V. Sweeney, Sr. (Clarice Moody) Mrs. Clyde Sweeney (Clarice Moody) passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, in Stephenville, Texas. She was born July 25, 1923 in Thurber, Texas to Joe and Willie Lawson Moody. She weighed approximately 2 pounds at birth and the doctors said she wouldn't survive. Thanks to her mother and others in the Company Town of Thurber that took wonderful care of her, she lived to be 88 years old. She was a graduate of Stephenville High School and attended John Tarleton College. She married Clyde Sweeney April 13, 1944 in Stephenville, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1982. For 22 years she worked alongside her husband in his law office as his secretary and for 25 ½ years she worked as a secretary for her son in his insurance agency. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stephenville, Texas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Clarene and Pat Eastes of Buffalo, Wyoming and Queen Valley, Arizona; and her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Cynthia Sweeney of Stephenville, Texas; grandsons, Jud Eastes and his wife Jennifer of Broomfield, Colorado, Michael Sweeney and his wife Heather of Dallas, Texas and David Sweeney and his girlfriend Emily Sells of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Sadie, Luke and Jonathan Sweeney of Dallas, Texas and her sister, Alta Lois Pipes of Stephenville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Everett in 1930; her father in 1989; and her mother in 1991. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Stephenville, Texas and she will be buried alongside her husband at Oak Dale Cemetery.
