LaFrance (Charlie) Reed

Charlie Reed, 86, of Stephenville, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Stephenville.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Stephenville Funeral Home.

Charlie Reed was born on April 20, 1934 to Clarence and Clara Reed in Spur, Tx. He married Ila Faye Franklin on January 24, 1959 in Stephenville and together raised three children. He attended Lingleville High School then went on and graduated from Tarleton with a degree in Business and also served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Lone Star Gas Company then Cashon Air Conditioning up to when he started and operated Reed’s Insulation for many years until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family throughout the years which included many trips to the Texas coast, many lakes, and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Shroy, Jackie, and  Edward Reed, sister in laws Elda and Jewel Reed, brother in law Claude Prater.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ila Faye Franklin Reed of Stephenville; daughters, Linda Davis and husband Johnny of Stephenville, and Brenda Ernstes and husband William of Hamilton; son, Andy Reed and wife Teri of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Jason, Lacey, Tasha, Cortney, Nicole,  Dewayne, Josh and Ashley; seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Annette Landes and husband Coy and twin sister, LaRue Prater; sister-in- law Shirley Reed, and a brother, Rocky Reed as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
