Brian Keith Rankin was born September 13, 1979, in Denton, Texas and was raised in Huckabay, Texas. Brian passed away on May 7, 2023, at home in Huckabay surrounded by his immediate family.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Huckabay Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Stephenville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Francine Rankin, and brother Jason Rankin. Also, by his aunts and uncles Donna Lia, Carol Kuhnau, Nita Rankin, Ray Rankin, Jonella Northcut, Gail Harding, Angela Boyd, and Jimmy Jackson, and by his Nieces Audrey, Katie, and Ellie Rankin.

Brian was preceded in death by his twin brother Brad Kyle Rankin, by his grandfather Waldo Drennan, by his grandparents Lonnie and Louise Rankin and Pruitt and Frances Jackson, and his uncles Bill Ray and Larry Rankin.

Brian’s life was characterized by a love of his church family, love of lively discussion, and overcoming challenges that most would consider overwhelming. He was born with a heart condition that led to the early death of his twin brother.  He was also born legally blind and hearing impaired and developed diabetes as a young man. While living his life in the face of these challenges Brian graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. Brian was an avid reader despite his vision difficulties, and was an endless source of facts about history.

Brian’s family would like to thank our family and friends who provided so much support over the past few weeks. Special thanks to the staff and nurses at the Stephenville hospital and CCS Hospice team.
