Billie Joe "B.J." Stasey, 87, of Chalk Mountain, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 13th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Anderson and Joe Gaither officiating. Burial will follow at Chalk Mountain Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at Stephenville Funeral Home. B. J. was born on December 31, 1925 in Erath County to the late McKinley Claude and Vida Virginia Mayfield Stasey. He married Mary John Anderson on July 19, 1942 in Chalk Mountain. B. J. served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the Plainview church, a member of the Iredell VFW, served several years on the Three Way School Board, and Erath County Cooperative Board. B. J. spent several years as Chief of Police at Tarleton State University. He was a certified Texas Peace Officer, and was a rancher. B. J. had a passion for playing and coaching baseball, and teams from Little League to Senior Citizens. B. J. is survived by his wife, Mary John; daughter, Mary Jo and husband Erik Logan of The Colony; sons, Michael J. and wife Diana Stasey of McKinney, Gary and wife Lynn Stasey of Stephenville, and Kent and wife Mary Beth Stasey of Aledo; grandchildren, Candy Benge, Penny Stevens, Monti Jeven Stasey, Mendy Janae Newton, Christopher Stasey, Chad Stasey, Chance Stasey, Tanner Stasey, and Samantha Jo Stasey; 8 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; sister Dixie and husband Leroy Worrell of Johnsville; and several nieces and nephews. B. J. was preceded in death by brothers, Frank H. (Pat) Stasey, Claude Barry Stasey, and Charlie Morris Stasey; and by sisters, Mary Lois Laney and Helon Louise Stone.
