Bill Moring Groves, 71, of Hannibal, died August 30, 2012 in Stephenville. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Sept 2nd at Exray Cemetery with Gary Williams officiating. Bill has taken a position as electrician to heaven after 71 years of livin', lovin', fightin', but always jokin'. Born on March 22, 1941 in Wellington, Texas to the late George and Ave Moring Groves, Bill married Mary Alice Brown on March 22, 1967 in Oklahoma. Bill served in the US Marine Corps and has spent the last 45 years keepin' his wife Mary Alice off the war path, and not always succeedin'. He is leavin' her in the care of his three step-children, Norman Wade Cooper, Malcolm Brian Cooper, and Regina Ann Simmons. His two sisters, Lida Nell Clark and Linda Bell Groves, have plenty of stories of his teasin' and cajolin' ways over the years. He ran with his brothers, Lee Claude and Robert Edwin Groves, and left them to raise cane in his stead. Whether it was love or hell, he always gave his 10 nephews and 5 nieces what they needed and he was more than happy to impart his knowledge to his numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Bill was a member of the Huckabay Church of Christ, and early on in life participated in Golden Gloves Boxing. Bill was an electrician and lived in Erath county most of his life. Whenever you see lightning in the sky, think of Bill Groves and know he's taking his nap. He'll get to it in a bit.
