Betty (Spain) Metsgar

Betty Metsgar, 87, of Stephenville, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

Graveside services for Betty will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 16th at Huckabay Cemetery in Huckabay.  Visitation with the Metsgar family will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, June 15th at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Betty was born on September 30, 1936, in Lingleville to the late Ross and Jettie Knight Spain.  She married Don Metsgar on November 6, 1953, in Stephenville.  Don preceded her death on January 28, 2015.  Betty loved spending time with her family.  She loved to read, garden, play dominoes, and work crossword puzzles.  Betty was a Baptist, a homemaker, and a lifelong resident of Erath County.

Betty is survived by her children, Donna and husband Billy Bob Hodges, Darrin and wife Leah Metsgar, and Deanna and husband Troy Richardson; grandchildren, Jason and wife Faye, Chad and wife Teri, Holly, Megan, Dylan and wife Stephanie, Raelyn, Mackenzie, and Callie; great grandchildren, Olivia, Ava, Laynee, Madeline, Huntly, Whitten, and Hattie.

Besides her parents, and husband, Don; Betty was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Spain; and a sister, Evelyn Sorrells.
